Ember woke to find herself in a hollow, with Collyn and Cleef unconscious beside her. Where were they? How did we get here? Oh yeah, some Pure ones knocked us out and they took us here... Ember sighed. Even though she had never been owlnapped before, she already hated it. She let her thoughts wander out loud. "How can I get Collyn and Cleef to wake?? I could throw a small rock at them, but that would seem kind of mean, I could push them over, but that would be mean also." Ember pondered this thought for a moment then she had a small spark of an idea. Why hadn't I thought of this before?[i/] She reached her talons over as far as she could, and shook Cleef for a moment.

Cleef climbed into consiosness quite slowly. He was shaking he knew that. He opened his eyes and noticed two more things, one he was surrounded by alot of gray and two his head was throbbing. It felt so bad that he wondered through his haze if anyone could see his head pulsinating. Finally when he was awake he noticed that the shaking was caused by Ember shaking him. "Ember they got you too? Well at least you're okay and didn't end up beaten." Cleef looked at Collyn, he didn't look to bad, but it was obvious that he hadn't gone down without a fight. Cleef looked around rather confused This isn't the Pure Ones camp, this is St. Aggies Cleef looked around the cave more comtemplativly. It was a cave of medium size with only one way in and out, two guards stationed there, one a Great Gray and the other a Great horned. They looked to be pretty battle seasoned too, both were brutes and had battle scars. Cleef noticed that in a corner there where some herbs and other materials neccasary to healing wounded.
Cleef walked over to the materials, analized what he had to work with, and set to work on Collyn's wounds. |

"Oh! Thank goodness Cleef! How is Collyn?" She stared at Cleef, nervously awaiting his answer. "I hope he will gain consciousness soon... Is there any herbs you need me to get?" Ember scuffled over to Collyn, and looked over him. Her eyes watered, hoping he would soon come back.

Collyn lay sprawled out in the 'cage' they put the three owls in. He started wakening with a throbbing pain in his head and saw Cleef working on his wounds and Ember staring down at him. "No, not you two also." The King moaned. He managed to sit up on his talons with a grimace on his dark face. "If I had just had my battle armor...." He scowled and looked away angrily.

Ember put a comforting wing over Collyn. "It would've happened anyways, Collyn. I tried my best, along with Cleef." She picked at her wing, where the owl she fought had bit her. "Sometimes these things happen, but the best always shines through." She smiled. "Now, since I'm all hypered-up, I'm going to try to think of a simple plan to get us out of here..."

Cleef looked up a moment and noticed that the Great Horned was looking in at them, he had three nasty slashes down his face "There'll be no plans of escape." he said "All of St. Aggies is in full alert. If even your shadow falls way of where it's supposed to be guards will swarm over to you..........." the owl ended in a way as if he wanted to say something, but just turned his head away. Cleef just stared a moment then said "You know, I may still be able to work on those wounds of yours, they don't look to healed over yet. If you'd let me treat them you may still be able to have feathers on you're face." Cleef went back to work on Collyn but listened and glanced up every so often for the owls reply. The owl turned his head into the cave again. |

I must agree, Cleef is quite right. Why wouldn't they have the troops all over the King's cage? Its rare any evil owl happens to catch the King of Ga'Hoole He thought bitterly. His grimace seemed as harsh as the flames in a forge. "The scars on his face...The scars on his face..." Collyn spat. "There'll be a talon-full more on there when I'm done with him!"

Cleef finished up on Collyn's wounds. "Alright Collyn, they're not to bad but I'd still be a little cautious." Cleef then looked back up at the owl "Well, what will it be? Feathers or none?" The Great horned looked in, then at his guard mate, then back in with this "yeah sure" look in his eyes Cleef looked at him annoyed "No, I am not going to get to treating you then stab you in the back with my talon. If I'm anything it's not a healer who kills his patients. Now do you want a feathery face or not?!." The owl looked back at his mate, churred softly, then walked into the cave. Keeping his distance away from Collyn he walked over to Cleef. Cleef inspected the owls face "A fairly fresh wound, looks like it was given to you by another owl." The Great horned glanced at Ember. Cleef churred abit "I should be able to heal it to where little to no scar will be left behind. You'll have feathers again, don't worry."
Cleef walked over to the stash then back to the owl and began working on the owls face. The Great Horned owl tensed, he knew Cleef from his visits to St. Aggies. He had seen the owls Cleef had healed, for they where the owls fellow comrades.........but the Great Horned would be ready to fight if any of the captives decided to do something in rebellion. |

Ember was shocked how Cleef could work so amazingly with herbs...he seemed to have studied lots. She watched as he worked on the Great Horned owl's face, who was the guard of the cave they were staying in. She quickly began to think, while Collyn was in the corner of the room, and Cleef working. She hatched a plan and whispered it to Cleef, really quietly so the guard wouldn't hear.
"I'm going to sneak out while the female guard isn't looking, and make sure that the other guard doesn't see me...I'm going to go back to Ga'Hoole and tell the others what happened, and bring a bunch of owls to come and save us...What do you think?"

Cleef thought a moment, then the Great Horned muttered something "What was that?" asked Cleef, he had been scrapping some dirt off the owls face when he muttered something. "What I said....." whispered the owl ".....is to fly south or west out of the canyons. It's a longer way but it should be the easier way out because most of the guards are posted on the north and east borders due to the fact that they border some of the other territories. Since the western and southern borders don't lead to any kingdoms not too many guards where posted. If you'd like, I could cause a distraction. I'm sure I could find a way to get my partner to leave the post for an errand or something." The horned owl glanced over to the other guard, the Great Gray hadn't noticed the talking......or at least didn't show any notice.
Cleef looked at the Great Horned owl's face closer. One reason was to see what else he needed to do for it and another was to see if he could figure out who this owl was. |

Ember heard Cleef talking to the guard owl about something...I wonder what?[i/] There were little bits and pieces that she heard like 'What if' and 'distraction'. She wondered what they meant...

Cleef looked to Ember "Ember your plan might just work......with a little help. The Great Horned owl doesn't seem to be who he acts to be. We're going to cause a distraction so that you'll have an opening to get out of the canyons. Fly south till you get to the border of the Canyons, then fly east along the border untill you get to Ambala. After you're there you should be able to have a clear shot to the Tree. Don't go untill our friend here signals you."
Cleef looked at the Great Horned and nodded at him, he nodded back. "Right" said Cleef "I think I've down all I can for your face, if it's not cleared up by tomorrow just apply some of this to it." Cleef showed the owl a particular herb. "Now if you'd excuse me I'll be taking my leave." Cleef then flew quickly to and out of the entrance. The Great Horned owl didn't do anything to stop him untill he was out of the hollow then the owl yelled "Hey! Get back here! Catch him!"
Cleef looked behind himself, the Great Gray owl was in hot pursuit Ok Ember, the Great Horned should have signaled you. The cave's open and the guards will be to busy trying to catch me that they won't notice you. Make your move. Cleef then flew in a northeastern direction. Hopeing that the owl would keep his word. |

Ember saw the signal, and launched off the cave and towards the brownish-red shimmering canyons. She watched Cleef be chased, and Collyn watching from below. As she approached the canyons, she turned east, and headed for Ambala.
